Mahayana Children’s Program at LOP
Mahayana Children’s Program classes began at LOP in the spring of 2023. These classes build on our expertise and learning from those that have been offered at the Center for many years. These classes for young children also provide alternative informal education and contribute to positive social-emotional development activities for children with fewer resources and those coming from dysfunctional families within the local community.
Classes specifically for children at LOP include English language training, arts and handicraft making (during the summer season), dharma, and most recently, introduction to special program on the 16 Guidelines for a Happy Life which has been adapted for children and adjusted to suit the Mongolian context. These classes and activities aim to build understanding and skills related to the use of the 16 “guidelines” or qualities that both adults and children need to cultivate in order to have a happier life, to improve their interactions with others and also contribute to transforming themselves while learning to manage or handle difficult challenges and the emotions that come with these experiences.
